About Salted CX
Salted CX builds a customer service platform where AI agents and people work together across chat, email, WhatsApp and phone calls. It brings conversations, customer context and business workflows into one place, so teams can resolve requests without piecing together information from disconnected tools.
The engineering challenges
The engineering becomes interesting where those pieces meet. An AI agent needs to bring a person into a live call without disconnecting the customer. A message needs to reach its destination even when an integration fails. A request needs to reach an available colleague, with the context they need to help.

What you’ll own
As a backend engineer, you’ll own a part of the product that makes these interactions work—from shaping its behaviour to building the services and running them in production. The decisions you make will affect both the people using Salted every day and the customers waiting for an answer.
That means:
- Designing, building and operating services aligned with industry standards: continuous integration, infrastructure as code, containers
- Owning your components in production, including on-call for what you ship
- Owning the infrastructure your services run on, mostly AWS
- Being part of the decision process, ideally including product decisions, not only technical ones

We use AI agents in day to day development and we want someone who sees that as an opportunity:
- Helps the team find new ways to use these tools
- Takes full responsibility for what the agents produce
- Wants to understand the generated code, not just ship it
Who we are looking for
- An experienced software engineer who drives work autonomously, from a rough problem statement to a running solution
- Someone who starts with "what problem are we solving?" rather than with the technology
- A startup mindset: pragmatic, comfortable with things that are good enough rather than perfect, no fundamentalism about technical solutions
- Experience owning a product or a component end to end, including production operations and infrastructure (AWS or similar)
- Experience building production applications on the JVM. Our system is Kotlin, but the specific technology on your CV matters less than how you think
- Experience with applications that scale dynamically for thousands of organizations and tens of thousands of users
- Experience making mistakes fast and learning from each of them
